My father told me that his grandmother, Minnie, used to make quilts. They were not art, he assured me, just made up of snippets of old clothes , so as not to waste fabric and used to keep warm. He remembers one, he says, all in grays and blacks and plaids. Not art, he says, not meant to be beautiful. Sounds like beauty to me. Maybe even art...

What a beauty! I have a 1963 singer (electric) in a table, not as pretty as your, very plain in fact. But the machine is fab for free motion quilting. My friendly sewing machine mechanic found me a darning foot that fitted. Heaps of room under the arm and it sews like a dream and really fast too. In fact it sews a better seam than my flash Elna. Shame it doesn't have a walking foot.
Wow! It is beautiful. I have one that was given to me by DH. It needs to be cleaned and loved a bit. Mine is from 1908 and I have yet to take the time to clean it up.
Oh how I love the faceplates on the old Singers!
