My father told me that his grandmother, Minnie, used to make quilts. They were not art, he assured me, just made up of snippets of old clothes , so as not to waste fabric and used to keep warm. I like the lavender better too. How about the darker color that you have on the outside?
I'm a bit more partial to the blue. The blue adds more contrast and makes the squares pop more, but I agree that the blue is a bit busy. So, try what Joyce recommends: use the darker purle on the inside too.
