Storm at Sea, top completed

So here it is at last, photographed in natural, albeit dwindling, light and obligingly undulating in the breeze. Using Inklingo made cutting of the shapes perfectly uniform and in my parallel existence I am sewing this all by hand. Many of these blocks are hand stitched and I love the way the seams are flat but in real life I am a machine jockey. I had a the colors in mind, but also went wildly astray as I am wont to do-which also meant that I sometimes did not cut as carefully as I should have (picture me like Edward Scissor hands at my cutting table, scraps flying) and there are some corners that are a wee bit not so pointy. But I think once it is quilted it will not be an issue.the last one is the blocks on the wall before they were rearranged which makes a huge difference. The fabrics are mostly handy dyed and batiks with a tiny bit of other toile like fabric.

Threads for the day are accomplished on Pindigo. 

As often happens it turns into more than one thread and if you have time and inclination, it can be a couple of hours of peaceful stitching. Such was my day thus far. 
We put on a pot of my father's famous secret recipe stew and I am trying out a Lingonberry bread mix from Ikea, which is rising on the stove as the pot bubbles. 
Tonight-be still my heart- I will cast on for Brooklyntweed's Juneberry shawl in the color called 'nest'.

finished in time

Long term work in progress (wip) finished in time to be a gift. Unfortunately the recipient will not be here for Christmas day as she will be working. But at the least it is finished for her and she knows it is here.
It has been ready to have a binding applied since it was quilted by Sue Baddley a long while ago, but I guess I just did not get around to it.I even had the binding cut, left over from another quilt. How many tops do you have that need to be made into quilts. I can think of a few I have tucked away...

Did a couple of threads on Pindingo today--early in the morning. It seems that my internal clock would rather me get up very early than me stay up late. So be it. I will quilt in the dawn rather than the twilight. I am doing the quilting in partial segments rather than all together. I find it easier and more relaxing not to have to wrestle it down before I stitch.

Delirium

 

day four of the creeping crud, called in sick to work, twice, and feel like a wimp but I can't breathe,or stand up,

or speak in an audible voice, so I guess this leaves me untenable in the workplace. 

But I am making progress on my knitting while ensconced upon the couch, 

with my two boxes of tissues, my ginger ale, tea, and occasional carton of matzoh ball 

soup from the neighborhood deli.

the pictures are of my noni bag in progress. Actually it is called a carpet bag, I guess due to the size and eventual shape,

after felting. I don't know what kind of straps I will put on it, probably leather, 

equestrian looking if I can find some.

It will be a fine overnight bag for those rare occasions when I need an overnight 

valise of the designer type. If I do say so myself.

I love house blocks and bright fabrics and the blocks perched on the roller shade are evidence of that .

Dear Jane blocks. I plead illness! 

I do love the Dear Jane block so. 

Maybe I should just make a life long commitment to making them 

and forswear all others. At least for today.

Beaded Diamonds

I spent a few hours today working on this project, adding some beads, wondering what to add to the alternate diamonds which are photos of our beach. It is a pleasure to spend  a day working on this. It may actually get done! But not today. It is one bead at a time
